March 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Name change for much-loved Lisbon hotel

Hotel Altis has been a landmark in Lisbon since it opened in 1973 and – as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations – the hotel has changed its name to Altis Grand Hotel. The new name reflects its five-star status and commitment to luxury, and also differentiates it from the other hotels in the Altis Group. This luxurious hotel has over 300 elegant rooms, including a number of suites with stunning views over the city. There are three restaurants serving Portuguese and international cuisine, three bars, a spa with a wealth of treatments, swimming pool, gym, shops and more. There is a spacious and modern congress centre with 20 meeting rooms for successful meetings and events. Iberostar launches Michelin-star events at Grand Hotel Mencey

Renowned chef Maria Jose San Roman took part in the first edition of Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey’s Women With Star cookery course on March 8. This project comes under the umbrella of Iberostar Chef, a new concept bringing top Spanish chefs to the gastronomic stage at the hotel in Santa Cruz, Tenerife. Maria Jose San Roman is the owner of the Monastrell restaurant in Alicante, and created a culinary offering with extra-virgin olive oil as its main feature. Monastrell is known for the quality of its products, its use of locally sourced ingredients, and the skill of San Roman – as well as its Michelin star, which it gained in November 2013.

Says Oscar Gonzalez, Iberostar’s Director of Marketing for Europe: “This project has been a step further in the commitment we maintain to offer the best of gastronomy to our guests. We have gathered the best and most avant-garde chefs of our country's cuisine and thus provided a unique opportunity for all lovers of haute cuisine".

Courses include:

Canary Island cheeses, Ceviche and carpaccio, Ham slicing, Confectionery, Basic pastry, Fresh pasta and sauces, Canary Island creative cuisine and more. These individual themed courses cost E60 per person. There is also the option of hiring the Mencey Cookery Classroom as a single table restaurant. Here, small groups can enjoy a show-cooking demonstration while they have lunch or dinner. This costs E70 per person. The whole Cookery Classroom is also available for hire from E1000.
