2014 Crawfish Festival Theme Contest Launched

March 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The Tualatin Crawfish Festival has been well known for its innovative themes each year.  Last year the winning theme was “Claws for Celebration” tying in with the City of Tualatin’s 100 year anniversary.  Other themes from recent years have been “Viva Claws Vegas”, “Crawfish in Paradise”,  “Crawfish Fiesta”, and “A Wild West Fest”.

The contest is sponsored by two of the festivals primary sponsors, The Tualatin Times and their parent company, Pamplin Media and Bridgeport Village.

Submissions for the contest can be made on the Crawfish Festival Facebook page.  The person submitting the winning theme will win a $100 Bridgeport Village gift card.

Earlier this month the 2014 dates were announced (August 1-3, 2014).  The 2014 dates also move the festival forward one week.  The decision was made based on comments from food vendors who also set up at the “Bite of Oregon.”  The new dates will allow vendors to now work both events.

“We are very excited about the expanded format of our awarding winning Tualatin Crawfish Festival.  The best is yet to come and no one should miss it!” said Lou Ogden, mayor of Tualatin.

2014 Dates/Times:

Friday August 1, 2014- Kickoff night at Tualatin Commons.  6:00-10:00pm

Saturday August 2, 2014- Tualatin Community Park.  10:00am-10:30pm

Sunday August 3, 2014- Tualatin Community Park.  10:00am-6:00pm

About The Tualatin Crawfish Festival

The festival was founded in 1951, originally as a way to celebrate the construction and completion of the new VFW hall on Seneca Street.  As ideas for the event were considered, it was noted that there was a real abundance of Crawfish in the Tualatin River and a festival was born.  The event has grown to become Tualatin’s annual “block party”.  One of the time honored traditions is the “Crawfish eating Contest”.  Friends, family, classmates and neighbors reacquaint each year at the festival which features great food, spirits, entertainment for all ages.  The guest of honor is always the crawfish.  For more information on the festival visit the website at www.TualatinCrawfishFestival.com
