By: Paper Chaser Guest blogger for Active-Duty Entrepreneur™ St. Clair will also serve as guest host for the April meeting of the Third Thursday Women’s Group (TTWG). TTWG is an open networking group for women in business that meets monthly for conversation, empowerment and camaraderie. A majority of the members are small business owners and are spouses of active duty, reserve or retired military. Business women in Carteret, Cape Carteret and Onslow counties are invited to attend TTWG on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 5:30pm at Brewed Awakenings Downtown, 1000 New Bridge Street, Jacksonville, NC. To mark Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10:00am, she will make a special presentation of business start-up guides to Ms. Anne Shaw, Director of Center for Business & Industry at Coastal Carolina Community College, for the Small Business Center located in the Melton Skills Building, 444 Western Boulevard, Jacksonville, NC. The business start-up guides will be available as a resource to clients of the Small Business Center. “As a military spouse I know it can be challenging to navigate the system for business start-up or re-establishment at every duty station because each move can seem like starting over. Even though I started my business in Onslow County in 2006 and went through the process for operating a business in town, this is the first time I’ve lived/operated my business aboard Base. I made multiple phone calls to determine the protocol and it took a lot of time. In order to alleviate the “paper chase” for other military spouses moving to the area, I created a basic guide. I also developed one for Onslow Area business owners.” St. Clair continued, “The number one resource in the area for business owners, in my opinion, is the Small Business Center (SBC) at Coastal Carolina Community College. The SBC is part of a statewide network designed to support the development and growth of small businesses. I have gained tremendous knowledge as a small business owner by attending workshops offered and through consultation with business professionals on staff. I am thrilled to present the first set of Rack Cards (guides) as a resource for patrons of the Small Business Center.” In 2014, Administrative Professionals Week is celebrated April 20-26 and Administrative Professionals Day on Wednesday, April 23. Military spouse entrepreneur, Melissa St. Clair, owner of Paper Chaser, helps clients get out from behind the desk and back into their business to focus on sales and service by providing online office support via her virtual office.
