Follow on Google News | Fugro surveys London’s road network as part of contract with TRL AppiaGlobal group, Fugro, is undertaking SCANNER surveys of the principal and classified roads of London on behalf of the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham as part of a two-year contract in conjunction with highways asset management consultant, TRL Appia.
By: Fugro The SCANNER data will be used by the London authorities for the production of nationally recognised road condition indicators. By accessing the survey data using TRL Appia’s advanced iRoads asset management software, authorities will be able to model realistic schemes and assess the whole life cost implications of alternative maintenance strategies for the roads in order to maximise the benefit of their maintenance budgets. Andy Pickett of TRL Appia said: “We look forward to working together with Fugro to deliver high-quality road condition data to the London Boroughs.” Mark Thomas, manager of Fugro’s Cambridge based Infrastructure Services team who are undertaking the surveys, said: “We are delighted to be servicing the data needs of London’s collective road authorities and meeting the data demands of TRL Appia’s progressive iRoads software.” The Boroughs will have the option to acquire supplementary road condition data including GPR (ground penetrating radar) for integration with ARAN data within iRoads. These additional data streams are automatically collected by Fugro’s ARAN vehicles to avoid the cost and carbon footprint of commissioning further road surveys. Survey teams have been working overnight to minimise traffic delays, with completion of data acquisition expected in spring 2014. www.fugro-aperio.com ENDS Editor notes: · Fugro creates value by acquiring and interpreting earth and engineering data and by supporting its clients with the design, construction, installation, repair and maintenance of their infrastructure.
