New Embroidery Software is All About Fonts

April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- From monograms to full names and messages, the right font design can turn any ordinary project into something more personal. To give embroiderers everything they need for lettering in one place, Designer’s Gallery created the new FontWorks software.

FontWorks is a font-dedicated, program with 135 built-in fonts and the ability to create an endless font library. FontWorks takes any TrueType font from the user’s computer and transforms it to an embroidery design. Most computers come pre-loaded with numerous TrueType fonts, and there are thousands of free TrueType fonts available for download. Embroiderers will always have new font options with FontWorks.

All font designs can be resized, and 61 specialty fonts can be modified with specific stitch types such as run outline, satin outline, appliqué, and more.  Additionally, all fonts can be dressed up with built-in fancy fills.

When it comes time to arrange the letters, users have many layout options for every message. FontWorks includes traditional layout options like single-, multi-, or vertical-line as well as more whimsical layouts like circle text, text to stairs, and text on a path.  Font designs can also be merged with other embroidery designs.

Before bringing the design to the embroidery machine, users can use other built-in tools to make the process easier. There’s an Appliqué Preview feature that lets users view their lettering design with built-in fabric images to see what the finished item will look like. There are also color management tools to easily change thread colors as well as the option to print a template to ensure perfect embroidery placement.

To help get embroiderers started right away, FontWorks also comes with a free Quick Start Guide and two free Sew at Home Class codes good for Sew at Home OnDemand or Sew at Home Live classes.
