is excited to announce that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has awarded Texas Swim Academy owners, Kathleen and Bruce McMordie with the 2014 Entrepreneurial Success Award. For the last 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has sought and honored small business individuals who have significantly contributed to the economic growth and strength of the nation through their work within their local communities. The SBA Houston District Office serves 32 counties and accepts nominations in seven different award categories. To be nominated for the Entrepreneurial Success Award, individuals must own and operate businesses initially launched as small according to SBA size standards and subsequently developed into large businesses; and they must have received SBA assistance to help the businesses grow.
Kathleen and Bruce McMordie started the Academy ten years ago to teach infant aquatics and water safety to children in the Katy and Houston area. As an infant aquatics expert, Kathleen takes great comfort and personal satisfaction in imparting skills to her students that can one day save lives. With a unique passion for aquatic instruction and child safety, Kathleen and Bruce work tirelessly to find new ways to fund and grow their business while creating the best aquatic programs in the area.
"Our passion is instilling valuable water safety and life-saving skills to the next generation and serving the Houston and Katy communities. And we're delighted to be awarded with such a distinguished honor," said Kathleen McMordie, owner of Texas Swim Academy. Kathleen and Bruce will be honored for his achievements at the Houston District Small Business Awards Luncheon sponsored by SCORE Houston, held on June 12, 2014 at the JW Marriott.
