Summer Hair – The Latest Looks for the Summer SeasonThis summer’s looks are all about sun-kissed tresses with subtle color highlights for the ultimate beach-bunny look, as Rodney Gentry, the full-service designer and hair color specialist based at Sachi Salon & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ, confirms:
By: Rodney Gentry at Sachi Salon and Spa Worn down, mermaid waves are the ultimate summer look for 2014, while up dos will see hair piled and pinned artfully, with stray strands drifting lazily in the breeze. Length is everything, but those with shorter tresses need not despair – sweet curls and waves also look fabulous for shorter hair and will be much easier to take care of after a day at the beach. Highlights are very much the trend of the season, as Rodney Gentry explains: “Highlights are very much in demand at the moment, as my clients at Sachi Salon & Spa are proving. Used for subtle lightening, they create the perfect summer look by adding a lovely degree of texture as well as color. Both male and female clients have been after highlights in advance of the warm summer months, though I’ve also had several clients asking for lowlights as well. Overall, it’s about creating a gentle effect that enhances the hair’s natural color without making too dramatic a change.” Of course, for those who do want a bolder style and color, Gentry is happy to offer his expertise. Every client is provided with a detailed, personalized consultation to ensure that the history of their hair and their desired look are fully understood before any coloring or styling begins. It’s part of the customer service approach for which Gentry is so well known. On this summer’s bolder looks, he comments: “Anne Hathaway is very much the inspiration behind the perfect blonde shade this summer and I’ve had several clients looking to mirror her stunning cropped blonde style. We’ve also seen bright blonde locks being paraded up and down the catwalks of Miu Miu for their spring/summer show this year, so there’s definitely a trend out there to suit those who are after a bolder image.” Deep, rich browns also won’t look out of place during the coming season, if Keira Knightley and the runways at Mulberry are anything to go by. The emphasis is on glossy locks, perhaps with the sweetest hint of red lowlights for added glamour. With any color – whether highlights, lowlights or a full head color – it is important to use the right products to ensure that the hair remains in tip top condition and that the color lasts for as long as possible. At Sachi Salon & Spa, Gentry recommends the Goldwell and Oribe ranges for coloring and caring for hair: “Both Goldwell and Oribe are known for nurturing hair beautifully, which is why I am so pleased to use them at the salon and recommend them to clients. Both product ranges blend the best elements of science and nature in order to keep hair conditioned and full of vitality. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend anything else when it comes to caring for summer hair, particularly given the damage that UV rays, saltwater and chlorinated water can cause to colored locks." “A suitable, color-preserving shampoo and conditioner can work wonders when it comes to ensuring that hair maintains its color as well as its condition. I also particularly recommend using an intensive conditioning masque at least once a week during the summer months, to ensure that any environmental stresses are washed away and that hair is thoroughly nurtured for the ultimate glossy look.” To find out more about how to remain on trend this season, with perfectly colored and styled summer tresses, be sure to make your appointment with full-service designer and hair color specialist Rodney Gentry today.
