Follow on Google News | Alvarez Aims to Strengthen Veteran Hiring in San DiegoRecruitMilitary has named Navy veteran Angel Alvarez as a national account executive for the San Diego area
Alvarez hails from Oxnard, California, and currently resides in San Diego. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in human resources, from American Intercontinental University; and he will receive his masters in human resource management (MHRM) from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management in September 2014. Alvarez served in the Navy from 1994 to 2008, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic, and later as a recruiter in the San Diego area. “I am very excited about joining the RecruitMilitary team, and representing the company in San Diego and Southern California. I’m eager to be part of an organization with a camaraderie and support that we had in the military that works to serve veterans,” he said. Alvarez brings to his new role a history of building relationships and business development. During a graduate school interview with Keller Graduate School of Management, Alvarez so impressed his interviewer that he instead went to work as DeVry’s military education liaison for San Diego. In this business development and networking role, Alvarez had the opportunity to attend numerous RecruitMilitary hiring events on behalf of DeVry and, later, for The Art Institutes. Peter Gudmundsson, CEO and president of RecruitMilitary and a former officer in the United States Marine Corps, said, “We are thrilled to have a Navy veteran of Angel’s quality on board. As a former client of RecruitMilitary, he can speak from personal experience about the strength and effectiveness of our services.” Gudmundsson also noted that RecruitMilitary has focused on expanding its presence in and around the San Diego area. “San Diego is an important market for RecruitMilitary. We have hosted the area’s leading career fairs since 2006, and our clients throughout Southern California have long appreciated the benefits of hiring and retaining high-quality veteran talent,” he said. Angel’s wife Jackie is an active-duty Navy sailor, and they are the parents of two girls.
