Amicus Medical Group Takes Community Approach to Health Care

SUNRISE, Fla. - July 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Amicus Medical Group, a South Florida-based health care provider, is expanding its reach in local communities through free educational seminars, neighborhood events, and fitness classes, just to name a few.

“We are one of the newest organizations in the community that serves patients with VIP care without the VIP cost,” said David Rodriguez, Amicus president, who has more than 30 years of health care experience.

A Family Approach

Amicus is more than a traditional health care provider. The physicians and staff members want patients to feel like they’re at home. In fact, most of their visitors interact with staff members and physicians as if they were their own family members.

By sending a registered nurse to a patient’s home, he or she receives preventive care and, thus, potentially avoiding expensive emergency room costs.

A Community Focus

Amicus focuses on more than basic health care by partnering with area faith-based and community organizations to hold free events throughout the year, including:

• Senior health education classes

• Back-to-school supply giveaways

• Holiday toy drives

Additionally, each Amicus location hosts monthly celebrations for staff and community members. Staff members also recognize special occasions, such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, by hosting parties for their neighbors and giving away complimentary gifts.

Furthermore, the Palm Beach location has an activity room where area residents are invited to take part in free activities such as bingo, ladies bridge games, educational seminars, Zumba classes, and arts and crafts.
