The event theme ‘I’m Gonna Win’, was inspired by the Stylistics cut of the same name from the ‘Thank You Baby’ album. “Where I am going that matters and not where I've been. Now that I've something to lose, I'm gonna win!"

“The song says it all!  If you are facing any of life's challenges and need the encouragement to WIN, this event is for you! Though you come as an attendee, you will leave empowered with the faith and determination to continue moving forward confidently to WIN over life’s adversities,” says event coordinator, Diane Brooks. “That’s why a percentage of the proceeds from this event will benefit the City of Hope Cancer Research Center. We wanted to bring encouragement - musically to the soul and do what we can to fund research to find cures to a disease that is devastating lives and families."

Russell Thompkins, Jr. (the original lead vocalist of the group for over 30 years) and the Stylistics enjoyed enormous popularity worldwide with hits such as, "Stone In Love with You", "Peek-A-Boo", "People Make the World Go 'Round",   "Right as Rain", "Payback is a Dog", "Hurry Up This Way Again", "Children of the Night", "Betcha By Golly, Wow" and so many more.  Their greatest success came with the song titled "You Make Me Feel Brand New" which brought the group a Grammy Nomination in 1974.  Today, Russell and his New Stylistics Raymond Johnson (returning from the early days) and Johnathan Buxton ("Falcon"), still continue to bring the sounds of the original hits to many cheering fans and sold-out venues nationally and abroad.

Russell Thompkins, Jr.: For over 30 years, Russell Thompkins Jr was the original lead singer of The Stylistics. His impeccable falsetto voice led the group to international fame and recognition, recording such hits as "You're A Big Girl Now", "Stop, Look, Listen", "You Are Everything", "Betcha By Golly Wow" and many, many more.  Thompkins displayed arguably the sweetest falsetto voice of his generation, creating one beautiful love song after another under the production of the legendary Thom Bell and leading the act to super group status. In 2002 Thompkins released his first solo LP, A Matter of Style.
