Favorite Childhood Toys,Wooden Blocks & Building Logs, Available At Candy Dance Arts And Crafts Fair

RENO, Nev. - Sept. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Genoa, Nevada is host to the annual Candy Dance Arts And Craft Faire. Held in this small town that was Nevada's first settlement, the event draws thousands from surrounding communities. The event has been held since 1919. It was first organized to raise money to purchase street lights for the town. The early settlers decided to have a dance and sell homemade candy to raise the funds. The street lights were installed and then they realized they had to pay the yearly electric bill for the lights. So the dance became an annual event that was used to raise money to cover the electric costs.

The Arts and Crafts part of the celebration was added in the 1970s. Today the fair features 300 vendors who provide handcrafted items for sale. There is still an annual dance with live music and handmade candy is still sold. The event helps fund a major portion of the city's budget. It is a popular annual family event for thousands.
