Deep Well Services Contributes to Landmark Utica Well

ZELIENOPLE, Pa. - Sept. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Oilfield service company Deep Well Services (DWS) performed the completion drill out and production tubing installation on the Stewart Winland pad, the biggest well in the Utica play so far ─ one that may prove to be the largest in the U.S.

Magnum Hunter Resources Corp.'s 1300U well, the southernmost in the Utica shale play, was placed in production last week with a current peak rate of 46.5 million cubic feet of natural gas a day, the company announced (http://www.magnumhunterresources.com/pressreleases.html).

Beating out larger competitors, Butler County-based Deep Well Services' crews bested a high-pressure situation on the 10,825-foot deep record-breaking "monster" well in Tyler County, W. Va., says DWS COO John Sabo.

"We are the only company headquartered in the region that is prepared to perform work on those high-pressure Utica wells," Sabo says. "Our talent pool is more experienced, and our equipment is strategically set up for this type of work."

DWS used its state-of-the-art standalone snubbing unit with 285,000 max pull to perform the feat, and Sabo says he expects the company's presence in Utica to grow alongside increased production in the play, where wells are typically higher pressure than in the Marcellus shale play.

DWS is the only snubbing company headquartered in Pennsylvania, and the majority of its employees are Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia residents.
