Follow on Google News | The Alabastards to Appear on Episode 11 of The Electric Lunch HourEpisode 12 of Season 1 promises to get you on your feet and moving with the Alabastards in one of the best live music venues in Georgia - Dixie Tavern!
By: Dirty South TV Bringing their Outlaw-era swagger to your neighborhood soon, the Alabastards are among Atlanta’s newest and best “metamodern” Active since 2013, the five-piece combo has its origin in the songwriting, guitar-playing partnership of Greg Shaddix and Matt Bourelle. Taking inspiration from John Prine and Willie Nelson, the duo had been peddling their slice-of-life story-songs for half a decade. Upon relocating to Atlanta, however, they decided to assemble a band that would make their tunes about working-class eccentrics, cowboy life, and both sides of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning more dramatic, more danceable, and--yes--more louder. Taking their name from the Alabama-born Shaddix’s reputation in a number of U.S. states and territories, the Alabastards are equal parts savvy neo-traditionalists and rusticated shit kickers. Their sound is powered by the muscular rhythm section of Steve Saunders (drums) and Jerbo Foti (bass), while Bourelle (guitar) and Buell Wisner (pedal steel guitar) add the leads. Shaddix contributes the vocals, the hat, and the inimitable plunk of a nylon-string guitar. Together, the Alabastards can turn on a dime from lovelorn troubadours to honky tonk heroes. One imagines they would have been the perfect band for rowdy weekends at Boss Hogg’s Boar’s Nest. The Alabastards bring their honky tonk style to the stage at Dixie Tavern on Friday, October 3, 2014 in front of a live audience.
