Neeraj Jain is the Chief Executive officer of WaterAid in India and comes with over 20 years of experience across business development, marketing and strategic management in organisations across Asia and Europe. His experience spans the commercial as well as the development sector.

WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation. WaterAid mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.

Previously, Neeraj was associated with Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) as a consultant for child development with focus on nutrition, early learning and child survival in the pre-natal period. Prior to this, he headed the Asia region for Vestergaard Frandsen, a Swiss company manufactureing water purifiers and insecticidal mosquito nets, primarily aimed at increasing the health impact against vector and water borne diseases. Neeraj has considerable experience working across multiple states in India as well as across the Asia Pacific region.

Neeraj holds a graduate degree in Business Studies from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and did his post graduation in Business Administration with a major in finance from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.

WaterAid programmes

WaterAid programmes serve a wide range of communities, from those living in remote rural villages to small towns to slums in major cities including New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bhopl. WaterAid prioritises the needs of marginalised groups who often excluded from existing services, such as Dalits or people with disabilities. As well as developing household and communal facilities, we help develop water and sanitation facilities in schools. WaterAid hygiene promotion programme, which includes measures to improve menstrual hygiene management, is undertaken in partnership with community volunteers, health workers and schools.

The India Sanitation Summit ‘Sanitation for All – Toilet First’

The India Sanitation Summit ‘Sanitation for All – Toilet First’ is aligned to ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ (Clean India Initiative) of our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’

Under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ (2014-2019) Rs. 2 lakh will be spent for construction of about 11 crore 11 lakh toilets in the country in five years. Technology will be promoted and used on a large scale to convert waste into wealth in rural India in the forms of bio-fertilizer and different forms of energy.

The Govt will soon launch an intensive information, education and communication (IEC) campaign at an estimated cost of Rs 1,800 crore to generate awareness about the need for cleanliness and to bring about much-needed behavioural changes for achieving the goal of 'Swachh Bharat'. Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2 October this year on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
