Discfilter Meets Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations Standard

By: Veolia Water Technologies

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - Nov. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Veolia Water Technologies has been awarded a contract by Black & Veatch to supply a Hydrotech® Discfilter tertiary filtration plant for Thames Water’s Stanton Harcourt STW. The Veolia Discfilter was selected by Principal Contractor, Black & Veatch, based on its proven track record at other UK sewage treatment works including many of Thames Water’s sites. One of those is the UK’s largest Discfilter installation at Deephams STW in Edmonton, London. The new installation at Stanton Harcourt near Oxford is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2014.

Veolia’s Hydrotech® Discfilters use a series of 10 micron rotating disc filter elements to remove suspended particulate solids, including biomass flocs and precipitated phosphates, from the sewage works final effluent to meet a 15mg/l TSS standard for compliance with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations. Backwash water, which is typically only 2% of throughput, will be returned to the head of works, and low power consumption and minimum maintenance by comparison with competitive technologies make the Hydrotech® Discfilter not only cost effective but a more sustainable option.

Veolia Water Technologies have over fifteen years’ experience of using Hydrotech® Discfilters in a wide variety of industries including power generation, food processing, mining, pulp and paper and textiles manufacturing, and can provide expert guidance on your requirements.
