Spark Design Awards Announces 2014 Concept Winners

NEW YORK - Dec. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Spark Design & Architecture Awards announced that it has completed judging the Concept category of entries. 71 students and 6 professional Concept winners have been selected, from a field of 344.

"This has been a remarkable year for Spark," said CEO Peter Kuchnicki. "Not only did we receive a record number of entries, the quality was outstanding. Our jurors were delighted with the work, and the Spark organizers witnessed continuing growth in design sophistication and creativity."

Some of the designs amazed even the very experienced designers on the jury: "I really really liked the concept and execution of bronze winner, Pecera," stated Sally Dominguez, principal of Adventurous Thinking. Spark Concept Pro winners included designers from Gensler, NBBJ, TEAGUE, LUNAR Europe, Altitude and Wall Technology Systems.

9 top-level Spark! awards went to students from Art Center College, Royal College of Art and Hoseo, Cheongji, Gachon, Daegu, Keimyung and Hanseo Universities.

"Spark continues to see a high level of participation from Asia, which is why we chose to conduct our first jury in Shenzhen, China. We had six jurors from Asia and six from western countries. Plans are already being made for further international activities, said Spark organizers, with workshops on design strategy for business, creative thinking tools and using design thinking to create new marketing opportunities. "As you might imagine, with over 60 jurors just in 2014, we have a fabulous pool of designers to draw our faculty from, said Spark Education Director, Clark Kellogg. "2014 was extraordinary—but we're just beginning."
