WAKEFIELD, R.I. - Dec. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Masking tapes are available in wide range and colors due to which it has many types and numerous uses. Custom Masking Tapemay seem like a generic one that can be used on anything, but it has many types according to use. All these tapes that are made are for temporary use and have to be removed after a specific time. It covers the area you that want to work on or you want to protect some area after you have done some works on it. The main difference is that of tack and the stickiness of this on the surface.

Painters’ tape – This type of tape is low tack and is used on paintings to protect the painted part of the painting which the painter wants to protect so that paint is unable to reach it. If this

Custom Masking Tapeis used properly, it will restrict the paint from reaching the part painters don’t want to be disturbed and it is also easily removable so it doesn’t damage the painting beneath it. To get the best results out of this tape, it is advisable to remove the tape immediately after painting and ideally within 12 hours after applying it on the painting. If you leave this tape for longer period, then it can stick to the surface especially if the temperature is warm so remove it as early as you can.

Tape for general purposes – The type of  custom masking tape that is used for all the general purposes has a higher tack, so that there is a high probability of this tape being stick on the surface it is applied and leaving residue behind when it is removed. This tape is basically made to be used on smooth surfaces like metal, plastic, painted wall, etc. Generally, for these tapes, its production cost decreases with the increase in tack. If you see a yellow, tan, or an off-white color tape, it has to be this tape because it is produced in these colors mostly. If you want to get the best result out of this tape, then you have to remove this tape four hours of its usage.

Draftsperson or Artist’s tape – This type of custom masking tape  is the most costly one because it has the lowest tack and is used for sensitive work. It is basically used to hold semitransparent paper which is quite sensitive on some blueprints. This paper allows the draftsperson to be able to draw something over the blueprint without changing anything on blueprints; it is like adding a layer above the blueprint. So in this case, the paper that is to be placed needs to be placed perfectly over the blueprint and for that, the place needs to be firm and at the same time easily removable.

These masking tapes are available in variety of sizes. The most common sizes that you will see in the market are ½ inch to 2 inches but there are wider or shorter tapes available if you want. While buying this tape, do see at the back of the pack what is the timing of removal and its strength because every production company has its own formula for making custom masking tape.
