Follow on Google News | Greenwich Ballet Academy Announces Spring and Summer AuditionsHot off an extremely successful session, GBA promises even more to come
By: Greenwich Ballet Academy The GBA, with its rich history of exciting and award-winning performances, internationally acclaimed guest artists, international training , and an extremely high quality of pre-professional dance instruction, will hold auditions for the Spring Semester and Summer Intensives on Saturday, January 17. Those interested in auditioning should e-mail Director@GreenwichBalletAcademy.org to set up an audition appointment. GBA is pleased to offer this opportunity to students hoping to join the premiere classical ballet academy in Westchester and Fairfield counties. Spring students will have the opportunity to appear in the June graduation gala performance. Last year’s summer intensive was well-attended, and now area dancers will again have the opportunity to receive personalized attention and instruction from top ballet instructors including Artistic Director Yuri Vodolaga, winner of the 2013 Youth American Grand Prix Instructor of the Year Award. “We are very much looking forward to seeing this year’s new talent entering the program,” said Vodolaga. “Each audition brings the school exceptional new local talent, and we are thrilled to be able to educate these aspirational dancers on their way to their dreams.” Summer intensives are highly recommended for aspiring dancers, as it is a unique time to really advance and strengthen their skills in a less-distracted environment where they can dedicate themselves to the art with a concentration and focus designed to take their skills to the next level. This summer, GBA hopes to incorporate past student feedback, and continue to add to and improve the program. The highly acclaimed end-of-session performances will return, and plans for dance field trips are in the works! The GBA recently had a very successful run of the Nutcracker at the White Plains Performing Arts Center, drawing from its own students for all of the casting including Stamford resident Maria Jose Esquivel, local teen and senior at Holy Child High School in Rye and longtime GBA soloist, in the starring role of Sugar Plum Fairy . The fall semester also included GBA dancer Elisabeth Beyer’s second place placing at the Youth America Grand Prix European semi-finals in Paris, as well as the success of Aidan Buss, local student at Eastern Middle School and GBA along with John Orlowski of Crestwood, NY, dancing with the Mikhailovsky Ballet in Don Quixote at Lincoln Center’s Koch Theater in New York City. “It is an opportunity of a lifetime for me,” Aidan said after one of his shows. “To get the opportunity to share the stage with world-famous ballet stars like Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev is unbelievable to me.” For more information, see the Greenwich Ballet Academy website at greenwichballetacademy.org.
