She is the immediate past president of TransAfrica and a founder of the LeeBayard Group, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in diversity and inclusion, organization development, and public policy in Washington, DC. She is an adjunct professor at SUNY Buffalo Law School and co-coordinator of human rights documentation for the Ferguson Legal Defense Committee. As a law student, she worked in South Africa, assisting on the largest class action lawsuit filed on the continent of Africa, toxic tort litigation against DeBeers for the sulfur dioxide contamination of an entire region. Returning to the U.S. after working in Haiti, she was appointed the first female President of TransAfrica, the nation’s premier African American foreign affairs organization. With her signature seriousness and compassion, she continued investigations and missions documenting violations of human rights and dignity of the world’s vulnerable populations. Her analysis and investigations are relied upon by the CBC and other policy makers. Ms. Lee has testified before Congress and continues to provide the on the ground prospective and strategies to the vulnerable communities she serves. She received Running Start’s Women to Watch Award in 2008 and has been on Ebony magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential African Americans. As an expert on Africa and the African Diaspora, Ms. Lee has authored numerous opinion pieces and appeared on ABC, NBC, CNN, BBC, NPR, Democracy Now, Voice of America and hundreds of TV and radio appearances.
