Follow on Google News | ![]() Explore Feminism Today this March at the monOrchidBy: the monOrchid Shade Projects Curator, Nicole Royse, says “Visitors will be able to explore generational viewpoints of Feminism through engaging imagery, diverse styles and mediums.” Feminism Today brings together a diverse and vibrant group that includes Kristin Bauer,Christine Cassano, Cherie Buck Hutchinson, Mimi Jardine, Melissa Martinez, Monica Aissa Martinez, Constance McBride, Lara Plecas, Irma Sanchez, Mary Shindell, Beth Ames Swartz, Marilyn Szabo and Denise Yaghmourian. These talented artists have exhibited their artwork throughout the country, are collected around the world and have been featured in numerous publications. Royse goes on to say, “I have selected a diverse collection of artwork from these women who have helped to shape the art scene here in the valley.” The Opening Reception will be held on First Friday, March 6th, 2015 from 6-10pm with the artists in attendance. This month also features Artlink Phoenix Art Detour 27, which takes place Saturday, March 7th and Sunday, March 8th from 11am-4pm and will feature amazing art, live music, family activities and more. The Closing Reception will be held Third Friday, March 20th from 6-10pm. The night will feature brief talks by the artists reflecting upon their work, live music and more. Feminism Today will be on display in Shade Gallery at the monOrchid from March 6th until March 29th, 2015. The monOrchid is located at 214 E. Roosevelt Street in the heart of Phoenix's downtown Roosevelt Row Arts District. The building is open daily and the exhibition may be viewed during business hours.
