All resumes should contain an email address. If your email address hasn’t change since Year 5, we’ve got a problem. According to studies, 76% of resumes are discarded for an unprofessional email. Creating a new email is simple- just keep it professional including your first and last name with a reputable email platform. If you’ve included a photo in your resume keep in mind that 88% of resumes aren’t considered with a photo. Speaking of photos….remember to keep your Facebook and Instagram on the top privacy settings- 65% of employers will find you on Facebook and the way you present yourself here will have an enormous impact on the way you’re received in the job interview. Don’t stop there, your LinkedIn profile needs to be immaculate because 89% of all recruiters have hired someone through this very influential platform. Research also indicates that 40% of job seekers search for a new job at work- be very careful doing that. Once you’re through the door here’s some more daunting information. Research has shown that the average length of a job interview is 40 minutes. 33% of some 2000 bosses interviewed in a survey indicate that they know within the first 90 SECONDS if they will hire you. That’s not a lot of time. It’s less than two minutes. In this very same survey it was noted that you might be eliminated for being too fashionable or trendy, failing to make eye contact, lacking knowledge of the company, bad posture, crossing your arms and a lack of a smile. Now that you know the stats, you can better prepare yourself for everything from job seeking, resume writing, that daunting job interview process and those physical and facial cues that might put off your employer.
