"Spellcheck", Text Exhibition at Parlor Gallery

Parlor Gallery is pleased to present our newest exhibition, “Spell Check”, which was curated with a focus on works that feature text, characters and words.  Text and letters strike an immediate and recognizable cord in our psyche, regardless of our understanding of what they mean or the language in which they are written. It is our nature as humans to try to interpret text and speaks to our need for survival, understanding and interpretation of the world around us.

“Spell Check” is a group exhibition that features artists both new to the gallery as well as gallery artists we have exhibited in past programming. The artists range from street artists like Queen Andrea, whose murals have been featured at the Wynwood Walls in Miami during Art Basel Week to sign painters like Los Angeles-based artist, Keith Scharwath, who utilizes everything from butter knives to phone books and a can of 1 Shot to create his unique signs.

The opening night reception will take place at Parlor Gallery, located at 717 Cookman Avenue , Asbury Park, NJ from 7pm-11pm. The exhibition will be on view at the gallery from March 21^st until April 30^th, 2015.
