Florida Mediator Matthew Brickman Releases Mediation Settlement And Success Rates

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - April 28, 2015 - PRLog -- In recent years, Florida has been reported to have among the highest divorce rates in the country. In 2010, a study by the National Vital Statistics Report and the U.S. Census Bureau calculated the number of divorces by state with Florida ranking number nine with 4.3 divorces per one thousand people. The Daily Beast ran a feature in October 2010 called “America's 50 Divorce Capitals,” in which the state was represented by no less than 12 of the list’s 50 entries.

Since mediation is mandatory in the state of Florida for divorcing couples with children, the average settlement rate where the couples reach an agreement without litigation remains an elusive statistic.

He opened the video by stating, "I have occasionally been asked how many mediations do I typically conduct per month and what is my settlement rate...What does it matter? Who cares and if so why do you care? I am more concerned about my success rate than my settlement rate."

He went on to say, "As a mediator, I am more concerned with my success rate, which is 100%. I base my success not on how many agreements I can get signed in mediation, but rather on the fact that every single person that I have ever mediated for was empowered and they exercised self-determination and chose their own fate."
