Follow on Google News | Tween Girls Design Real Fashion Window in the Garment Center6-11 year old future fashion designers learn to sew and create a window display in NYC
The class which takes place on West 39th street at The Fashion Class started this past April and teaches the students how to visually represent fashion and art by designing and creating a real window (http://shop.thefashionclass.com/ "We learned that we can't just put a mannequin in the display, we need to design what's going to be in the window and you need to decorate everything," After brainstorming and deciding between sunflowers, beaches, the sky and monkeys the students came up with "Fashion Paradise" as their display theme for Spring. Their favorite part of class so far has been designing a miniature version of the window. "This class will develop students' basic technical and communication skills through drawings and presentations. Each student will gain experience with a variety of materials to mock up their own 2D sketches and 3D miniature forms," explains their instructor Nina Edwards. What's in the actual window? The students will unveil their design on Saturday June 6th at 1:30 pm and welcome the public to stop by. Located at 209 West 38th Street the window, which is part of The Garment District NYC's art program, will be on display through the end of June. The students of The Fashion Class hope to show the fashion district that despite their young age they have some wonderful ideas. The Fashion Class (http://www.thefashionclass.com/ End
