Dr Somdutt Prasad to Organize a Healthcare Professionals Awareness Programme for Ophthalmologists

KOLKATA, India - June 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Under the aegis of i4vision, Dr Somdutt Prasad — a celebrated ophthalmologist and retinal specialist — will organize a Healthcare Professionals Awareness Programme for ophthalmologists and opticians on 13th June, 2015, at Rupashree Restaurant, Serampore, from 12 noon onwards. Around 30 ophthalmologists and opticians will be a part of this programme where 'Diabetic Eye Disease' is the fundamental subject of discussion.

The programme will be inaugurated by Shri Ashok Das, PMOA, Serampore Walsh Hospital. Given below are the topics of discussion along with the speakers.

About Dr Somdutt Prasad

Dr Somdutt Prasad (also known as Dr Som Prasad) — MS, FRCSEd, FRCOphth, FACS and MFMLM — is currently a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal specialist at B.B. Eye Foundation, AMRI and i4vision. He has worked as a consultant ophthalmologist at the Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Wirral, UK, for over a decade and has now relocated back to his home country India.

On the clinical front, Dr Som Prasad has been an innovator and early adopter of new surgical techniques. This expanded the referral base of the unit with patients being referred in from across the country (UK) for specialized procedures. He has also concentrated on training allied professionals to empower them to take on expanded roles, for example he has trained optometrists to undertake follow-up assessments for macular degeneration patients.

Dr Prasad is active in the leading national and international ophthalmology societies and a regular faculty at the UK, European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and eight book chapters and has received several awards for his services in his distinguished career spanning over two decades.
