AmoyDx, Supplier of MoBiTec, Introduces System for Extraction of Circulating DNA from NSCLC Patients

GÖTTINGEN, Germany - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Successful analysis of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in advanced non–small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has provided many patients with EGFR mutation-positive disease with the opportunity to receive optimal, targeted treatments. Tumor tissue is considered the preferred definitive standard sample type for EGFR mutation analysis; however, for many patients, this sample type is not available.

Consequently, focus has turned to evaluating the use of surrogate sample types for EGFR mutation analysis, the aim of which is to identify the molecular characteristics of tumors from patients who do not have tumor tissue samples. One alternative sample type is circulating-free tumor DNA (ctDNA), which is obtained through less invasive methods to source tumor DNA, such as plasma or serum samples.

Amoy Diagnostics' Circulating DNA kit for purification of DNA from pleural effusion, serum, or plasma is an upgraded version of their Serum/Plasma Cell-free DNA kit. The extracted CtDNA can be used for EGFR blood testing etc.

Amoy Diagostics (AmoyDx), China, is a leading provider of cancer-related real time PCR diagnostic kits. The assays are based on a proprietary real-time PCR technology called “ADx-ARMS”. They have outstanding sensitivity (1%) and accuracy (99%).
