BENSENVILLE, Ill. - June 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Volkswagen has recently announced the addition of 2016 Jetta GLI to its new vehicle lineup sometime in the near future. The 2016 GLI is slated to feature the EA888 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the 2015 Golf GTI which should produce up to 210 hp.

Aesthetically, the GLI will feature 18-inch Mallory aluminum-alloy wheels with available summer performance tires and a newly designed front fascia. Chrome exhaust tips will add a stylish flair. For safety, drivers will get the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System standard, which is designed to reduce the impact of an accident. The APCB system brakes when a collision occurs, so that no after-collisions occur due to the momentum of the vehicle.

The GLI is the cousin to the Volkswagen 2015 Golf GTI hatchback. Though known as more conventional than the GTI, the 2016 GLI has been redesigned to break that mold.

Described in the press release as “the performance version of Volkswagen’s best-selling car,” GLI drivers will go beyond just performance with the MIB 2 infotainment system, providing several forms of connectivity through USB, Bluetooth, wireless, and more.

With its SE trim, the GLI will get keyless entry, LED taillights, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, the Fender Premium Audio System, and more. The SE will also sport a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and heated seats in order to accommodate drivers in a variety of conditions.

VW has also announced that the GLI SEL trim will include a Blindspot Detection System for increased safety in addition to other features like a built-in navigation system and Bi-Xenon headlights. The SEL’s Adaptive Front-lighting System, or AFS, links the headlight beams to the steering wheel, so that beams follow the driver's turns for increased visibility and security while driving at night.

VW has also made efforts to increase the sport appeal of the 2016 Jetta GLI over the standard Golf while including advanced technological features and featuring the Golf’s engine. Though the GLI won’t be available until later this year, interested drivers are encouraged to contact their local Volkswagen dealership for more information.
