Atlas Copco Tentec Bolt Tightening Solutions Launch New Range of Spring Return Topside Bol

Atlas Copco - Tentec Bolt Tightening Solutions launch new range of topside bolt tensioning tools at OE 2015

WEST BROMWICH, U.K. - July 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Atlas Copco Tentec bolt tightening solutions, a world-leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of bolt tightening equipment for the oil and gas industry will be launching new range of topside bolt tensioning tools  - Force 10 on Stand 1D61at Offshore Europe 2015.

The Force10 range of topside bolt tensioning tools consist of 10 base tools covering bolt sizes from 3/4” to 4” (M20 to M100) and has been designed to fit on to most ANSI B16.5, ANSI B16.47 Series 1, MSS-SP44,  API-6A and API-17D standard flanges.  Many new features and user requested enhancements have been built into this innovative range that now provides extra bolt load capacity without compromising on tool size or ease of use.  The 10 tool range offers multiple tool variations per bolt size, only 5 tools are required to suit bolt sizes from 3/4” to 4” (M20 to M100). The enhanced bolt load offered by the Force 10 Series bolt tensioning tools allows for time efficient 25% and 50% tool to bolt ratio usage on most standard pipeline flanges, using the industry standard A & B tensioning pressure procedure.

One of the major new features incorporated into this innovative new range of tensioners is the provision of spring return rams.   Force10 tensioners from models F10-04 to F10-10 feature heavy duty integrated springs that assist in resetting the tensioners in between pressure cycles. This greatly speeds up the bolt tensioning operation and reduces the physical effort needed by the user.

Knowing both safety and reliability is of vital importance Atlas Copco Tentec bolt tightening solutions engineers have integrated multiple enhanced safety features into the Force10 tensioners including mechanisms to remove the hazard of over-stroking the tensioner rams. Models F10-01 to F10-03 feature a mechanism which directs oil flow away from the operator in the instance the ram is over-stroked and exhausts oil harmlessly into the internals of the tensioner.

Force 10 models F10-04 to F10-10 feature internal hydraulic check valves that can sense the position of the tensioners hydraulic ram and again safely releases oil flow internal to the tool. All Force 10 tensioners offer a maximum ram stroke of 15mm, in many cases this is sufficient to achieve a "One Pull" tensioning procedure.

Another safety feature is the fact that all the tensioners in the range have been designed without the need for small bonded seals. Bonded seals are used by most bolt tensioning manufacturers to seal the hydraulic connections to the tensioner. These tiny seals are prone to failure and when just one of the many bonded seals used in a tensioning system fail, the whole tensioning procedure comes to a halt until the failed bonded seal is replaced. Atlas Copco has removed the use of these fragile seals so that this new range of tensioners no longer rely on bonded seals, improving safety and minimising downtime.

Practical features have also been incorporated to enhance user operation. These include a knurled puller, a wide grip surface and robust handling straps. Also for ease of identification, all components are hard stamped with tool identification and specifications.

To make life easier for all users of the Force10 tensioners, Atlas Copco’s popular Bolt Tightening Software (BTS) has been updated to include this new range. Using BTS takes away the complexity of calculating tensioner pressures and torque values, making it quick and easy to generate bolting documents.

The new Force10 range complements Atlas Copco’s Tentec existing ranges of bolt tensioners that includes the recently introduced V-Series of Compact Flange bolt tensioners designed specifically for use on Vector International SPO Compact flanges and the Norsok L-005 compact flanges and the Compact-8 series of subsea bolt tensioners for use on subsea Vector/SPO compact flanges.
