Award Winning Tattoo Artist, CJ McCaskill Sets Up Shop in Downtown West Palm Beach

On October 1, 2015, Professional Tattoo Artist CJ McCaskill, better known as CJGotInk, will become one of Downtown West Palm Beach’s newest art residents by officially opening Got Ink Studios Tattoo Shop & Art Gallery.  A lifelong artist, McCaskill began tattooing in 2010, and in less than five years has become a nationally recognized, award winning tattoo artist.  Though most of McCaskill’s admirers recognize him for his jaw-dropping portraits and photo realistic tattoos, with his experience and artistic abilities he has also been known to create just as amazing Traditional, Neo-Traditional, New School, Abstract, Bio-organic, and Japanese Traditional tattoos as well.

After looking at various retail locations for almost seven months, the young artist was immediately attracted to the loft-style retail space conveniently located at the corner of Olive Avenue and Evernia Street.  Having spent several years in the Atlanta art scene before moving to Palm Beach County in 2014, McCaskill was ecstatic to find a location in the hub one of the newest South Florida art scenes that many attribute to the efforts of the West Palm Beach Arts & Entertainment District (A&E District (http://www.downtownwpb.com/ae-district/)).  “Olive Avenue is fun to be on because there’s so much foot traffic and such a diverse mix of people…Everybody that walks by does a double take,” McCaskill said while chuckling.

Only a block and a half away from Clematis Street (http://www.moonfest.me/), many pedestrians passing by Got Ink Studios are either residents or patrons heading to enjoy one of West Palm Beach’s busiest nightlife scenes.  Many stop to peek in the windows and admire the 7 foot mural that McCaskill painted on the front wall using only spray cans and an airbrush machine.  Others stop and stare at the large, boldly painted canvases hanging on the 16 feet walls.  “I have a few paintings up that I did, but most of these paintings are from my Atlanta friends.  I don’t charge for wall space, so hopefully I’ll get some local artists to hang their pieces for sale soon too.”

In addition to the artistic elements of Got Ink Studios, McCaskill also did his best to create a modern, welcoming atmosphere and even went as far as opting for tablet portfolios instead of traditional photo albums.  “My main priorities are to create quality original tattoos and maintain a professional and comfortable environment for my clients and any other artists.”
