Fashion Designer Gillian Harding Launches Exclusive Collection of Luxury Kaftans for Sandy Lane Hotel Barbados

NEW YORK - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Fashion designer and entrepreneur Gillian Harding announced today that she is launching an exclusive collection, called Gasparee, for Sandy Lane at the world-famous luxury resort in Barbados, Dec 10th, 2015.  Gasparee consists of a luxury resort-wear collection that is inspired by the Caribbean where Harding was born. When creating her fashion line, her ultimate goal was to create luxurious resort-wear that consists of Kaftans that embody easy-breezy island glamour.

“I am an artist, and I love to fill my canvases with brilliant colors, which translates to the fabrics I choose to design my Kaftans. As an artist and a designer I love beautiful things. I always want people to feel luxurious and beautiful. I enjoy creating things that move and inspire people to live a beautiful life. The inspiration behind my line is the amazing way I feel when I think of my time on the island of Mustique and the bliss I feel when I am there. When wearing my Kaftans, it always takes me back to the happiest moments of my life,” says Harding.

Working in one of the fastest growing industries, some of the most challenging obstacles of being a fashion entrepreneur is not only possessing the ability to create an ultra-unique brand that stands out in the clothing world, but to achieve one’s bottom-line. According to Harding, a person’s brand and bottom-line are only two important aspects of having a successful career in fashion.

“The essence of my brand is being confident in whom I am. At the core of who I am is an island girl from Siparia, a small village in Trinidad and Tobago. I came to the United States with big dreams. Being inspired by my dress maker mother and watching Style by Elsa Klensch on CNN in black and white. A year ago I got to meet Elsa and got the opportunity to share with her my story and she inspired me to be a designer and I followed my dreams. Speaking to her moved me to tears and gave me the feeling that I made it. I say to you designers, just Believe.

"As women, we feel things. We are emotional and we create. We are connected to what we do and the success of my business is being true to myself and my inspirations. When I think of Sandy Lane I think of ultimate luxury, what you pay for is the experience. When I create my Kaftans I think about the feeling you get when you walk into a room wearing my Kaftans; that feeling that no one else is in the room but you. That feeling that you get when you are in your powerful self. The ease, the sexiness you feel and that easy-breezy island vibe. Gillian Harding first gained experience in the fashion world while helping her mother hand-bead wedding dresses in her sewing shop in Trinidad and Tobago. In the past, Harding has launched a variety of successful businesses including three high-end floral boutiques — one in Manhattan and two in Los Angeles. An extension of her brand was formed which included a lifestyle store in the Hamptons, known as Stems. She is also an accomplished Interior decorator. She lives between her homes in Los Angeles and the Hamptons.
