Follow on Google News | New Business Brings In-Home Care Options to Seniors & FamiliesJonathan Marsh left his cut-throat corporate job to create a business that cares for people and creates jobs
Home Helpers is the nation’s leading franchise specializing in comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. Direct Link is its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor and an automated medication dispenser. Home Helpers and Direct Link of Bradenton proudly provides services in Manatee County in and around the communities of Anna Maria, Bradenton, Bradenton Beach, Cortez, Holmes Beach, Lakewood Ranch and Longboat Key. “I was tired of having a job where the end result of my work was almost always layoffs. I was just fed up with always helping big companies make more money while the little guy suffered. I opened Home Helpers because it gives me a chance to own a company that can make a positive difference in the lives of the people in my community. I’m looking forward to creating jobs while providing a necessary service,” Marsh said. “ Home Helpers and Direct Link offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person’s individual needs. Services offered include personal care such as grooming, bathing, ambulation, laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation and transportation as well as medication management, care management, respite care and companionship. Each individual client receives services tailored to meet their specific needs by caregivers who become an extension of their family. Marsh was born in Tampa and lived most of his life in the Tampa Bay area. After graduating from Florida State University, he spent 16 years in corporate America working as an employee of two very large consulting firms and specializing in Enterprise Resource Planning software packages. When he started looking at what kind of business he wanted to open, Marsh was drawn to health care because of the positive impact caregivers can make as well as his personal experience. About 10 years ago, Marsh’s cousin moved to take care of his grandmother, who lived in Alabama. Although the cousin, who was in her 30s, was doing her best, the situation created strained relationships and mental health issues, including alcoholism. “Caring for a loved one can be extremely stressful and I don’t think people realize they can avoid becoming overwhelmed by working with a professional in-home caregiver. Whether someone needs full-time care or just respite care, we are here and can help,” he said. Marsh opened a Home Helpers franchise because the business had the backing of a national company, a proven business plan and a track record of excellent care. He’s looking forward to continuing that tradition by hiring compassionate, professional caregivers and implementing Direct Link when possible. By providing clients with a medical alert system, Marsh and his team can make sure their clients are safe and comfortable 24/7. Marsh is also a Certified Alzheimer’s Educator through the National Certification Board for Alzheimer’s Care.
