Dekalb County Interim CEO Lee May Proclaims January 30, 2016 Rimshot Day

Dekalb County Georgia Interim CEO Lee May proclaims January 30, 2916 Rimshot Day in support of a southeast regional tour featuring "Rimshot", a theatrical production that creates awareness for human trafficking, HIV, and domestic violence.

DECATUR, Ga. - Feb. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- Dekalb county interim CEO Lee May has proclaimed that January 30, 2016 is Rimshot Day in support of a stage production designed to bring awareness to human trafficking, domestic violence, and HIV.  The theatrical production demonstrates how the traps and pitfalls associated with a quick route to fame can serve as a compelling metaphor.

The production is best suited for audiences ages twelve and older. Proceeds benefit educational and prevention initiatives related to the epidemic--more specifically a southeast regional tour created by Roderick Cunningham, the founder of the Beverly Cunningham Outreach Program. The tour has garnished the support of clergy, educators, concerned citizens, lawmakers, and politicians.

Atlanta's Positive Arts Movement developed the stage production after an encounter with a human trafficking survivor.  Since its inception, the production has traveled to various venues around the country, has been featured at several conventions, schools, and churches, and won several awards.

"Our production extends itself beyond the stage.  We also host educational workshops to address other issues presented in the play to include peer pressure, statistics, images in media, positive self-image, and the grooming process associated with abusive relationships", says Angela Carswell, Playwright and Executive Producer.  "We have launched a southeast regional tour, focusing on every major city identified as a hub for human trafficking, new cases of HIV, and domestic violence.  Rimshot inspires important dialogue among those most effected."

Dates in Clayton, Rockdale, Gwinnett and other counties in the Atlanta metro area are anticipated in the next several months and the producers are requesting community support.  For more information, contact Angela Carswell at 678-306-3616 representing the Positive Arts Movement or Roderick Cunningham representing the Beverly Cunningham Outreach Program at 404-862-5197.
