 Level Up Village Unveils Two New Courses: Global Conversations – Malala Yousafzai and Global Language LabPowered by Level Up Village’s Global Communication Platform, the New Courses Build on the Success of Level Up Village’s STEAM Programs and Network of Global Partners in 23 Countries
By: Level Up Village • Global Conversations – Malala Yousafzai gives teachers the unique opportunity to engage their students in a global literature and culture exchange with real-world impact. Students read I am Malala and then discuss themes such as leadership, access to education and community service with global partner students. See this video to learn more about the recent pilot of this course at Eastern Middle School in Greenwich, Connecticut, in partnership with students in Pakistan and these articles in Greenwich Time and Tech Insider. • Global Language Lab provides an innovative way to further the development of foreign language skills by connecting U.S. students with native speakers in a global partner classroom. Available in Arabic or Spanish, this course offers a guided language and cultural exchange on topics such as cultural traditions, sports, popular foods, hobbies, travel and career aspirations. Level Up Village piloted this course last month at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, pairing Arabic language students with Palestinian students in Nablus, West Bank. U.S. school partners directly sponsor STEAM education in developing countries through LUV’s “Take a Class, Give a Class” model: a portion of the tuition is used to deliver the same class to students at one of LUV’s Global Partner organizations.
