VALLEJO, Calif. - March 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Would you like to be a part of the state or county government?  Governor Jerry Brown’s Appointments Secretary Mona Pasquil and Solano County Board of Supervisors’ Chairwoman Erin Hannigan will speak at a special seminar, “Demystifying State and Solano County Commissions and Appointments,” on Wednesday March 16, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  The event will take place at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, 734 Marin Street, in Vallejo.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  Please RSVP by emailing Patrice@brandgov.com or signing up on Eventbrite at http://tinyurl.com/zmw3e6e .

“We are always looking for well-qualified candidates to fill hundreds of available appointments to state boards and commissions,” says Mona Pasquil, Governor Brown’s Appointments Secretary and the person responsible for recruiting appointees.  “That’s why I’m very excited about being a part of this seminar, because it will spread the word to people who may be interested, provide information on the application process, and ultimately, increase the number of people who apply each year.”

The session will offer an in-depth look at the requirements for being appointed to a state or county board or commission; the application process; and the committees that currently have vacancies. Each Solano County Supervisor has the opportunity to appoint community members living in their district to several commissions.  Governor Brown appoints to over 500 boards and commissions and most of those positions are full or part-time salaried jobs.

“I think we have a lot of people throughout Solano County, who would like to be involved as a state or county appointee, but they need to know how,” says the event’s host K. Patrice Williams, J.D., the CEO of the lobbying advocacy and government affairs firm BrandGov.  “This session will give them all of that information; and we’re hoping to see more people of color get involved.”

Williams is partnering with the Solano Black Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Business Roundtable to bring the seminar to Solano County.
