FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - May 10, 2016 - PRLog -- Google for Entrepreneurs (GFE) announced that LineGard Med is one of eight companies invited to participate in their "Health Tech" exchange to be held in Nashville, TN on May 22-28, 2016. GFE is a week-long immersion program that bridges the gap between startups, experts, and new markets. GFE is hosting three separate exchanges in 2016 that focus on three separate topics: "Retail" held in Paris, France, "Smart City" held in Paris, France and "Health Tech" being held in Nashville, TN. The Health Tech exchange is hosted by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.

GFE sponsored four exchanges in 2015: "Travel" held in Dubai, UAE, "Fashion Tech" held in London, England, "Gaming" hosted in Seoul, South Korea, and "Scale" held in San Francisco, CA. Spencer Jones, CEO and Founder of LineGard Med, stated, "We are proud to be invited to participate in this exceptional, global entrepreneurship program. Nashville has an enormous healthcare segment, and the GFE will allow us to connect and create valuable relationships with various industry veterans, and some of the 400 healthcare companies that call Nashville home."

LineGard Med was also recently voted into the finals in the Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry's (MDDI) annual Medtech Startup Showdown that began on March 28th and ended on April 25, 2016. MDDI, an industry online and print resource for original equipment manufacturers of medical devices and in-vitro diagnostic products, invited 16 startup companies to participate in a bracketed competition similar to the NCAA basketball tournament. Each week, website visitors voted for the winner between the medical device startup competitors as they advanced through the bracket. The grand prize for the two finalists in the competition was complimentary CE marking for their first product via TÜVRheinland. TÜVRheinland is a global organization that in this particular instance will certify that LineGard Med is in compliance with the necessary regulations for selling LineGard Med's SafeBreak™ I.V. device in Europe.

Jones said, "Preparing and planning for an international product launch is exciting. I.V. dislodgement is a global issue that we plan to address, and receiving free CE marking will allow us to deploy the product internationally much more quickly than we anticipated. Medical supplies in developing countries can be scarce, and we're eager to see if our device can help extend the limited resources of economically challenged healthcare systems. We are very appreciative of the opportunity to participate in this MDDI MedTech Startup Showdown."

The SafeBreak™ I.V. is a medical device that helps prevent dislodgement of I.V.s. Clinical studies show that approximately 7% of I.V. lines are dislodged in various hospital and long-term care settings. Over 200 million I.V.s are installed in the United States each year, making I.V. dislodgement a significant healthcare issue.

ABOUT LINEGARD MED

LineGard Med is the developer of a unique patented break-away technology that works with all types of medical tubing. The break-away feature helps prevent the dislodgement or pull-out of feeding tubes, I.V. lines, urinary catheters and any other type of medical tubing by breaking into two pieces and protecting the patient's tube/catheter insertion site. The company's first product, SafeBreak I.V. fits into any standard I.V. tubing and will help prevent I.V. dislodgements, which occur millions of times a year in the United States.
