Follow on Google News | ![]() Shade Gallery Examines Kris Manzanares "What Happens in Between"By: the monOrchid Her paintings are based on digital photographs from her large collection, stating, "Many of my paintings would not be what they are without the instantaneous nature of the photograph, and its presence deserves to be acknowledged." Manzanares was formally trained in the arts receiving her Bachelors of Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Maryland going on to doing her Graduate studies in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. Also Manzanares has been awarded the prestigious Eric Fischl Award, in addition to exhibiting her work at a variety of galleries across the valley including the Paul Scott Gallery, {9} The Gallery, and Mesa Arts Center. Most recently she created stunning mixed media sculptures with Scottsdale Public Art at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library utilizing repurposed materials. Her artwork has been featured in numerous publications both online and in print including American Art Collector, Arizona Republic, AZFoothills Magazine, Phoenix New Times, just to name a few. The monOrchid and Shade Projects curator, Nicole Royse will host the Opening Reception on First Friday, September 2nd, 2016 from 6-10pm. The Closing Reception will take place on Friday, September 16th, 2016 from 6-9pm and the evening will offer an intimate event with the Artist, Kris Manzanares and Curator, Nicole Royse.
