Kent State Biz Tech Talk Event to Feature Kent State Alumna Shampa Banerjee

KENT, Ohio - Feb. 18, 2019 - PRLog -- KENT, Ohio– The Center for Information Systems at Kent State University's College of Business Administration welcomes Shampa Banerjee, Kent State Ph.D. graduate and chief product officer of Eros Digital at Eros International, as featured speaker for the Kent State Biz Tech Talk on Thursday, March 7.

The talk will take place at 7 p.m. in the Kent State University Student Center KIVA. A reception will follow in the adjacent Schwebel Room.

"We are excited to welcome Shampa back to campus as a featured speaker for the Kent State Biz Tech Talk series," said Dr. Drew Sellers, director of the Center for Information Systems and associate professor of accounting. "We look forward to hearing her share her experiences in growing a global digital media start-up and will provide valuable insights for students, faculty and members of the northeast Ohio business community."

With global experience and hands-on background in digital media, consumer products, video games, social networks, e-commerce and large-scale enterprise solutions, Banerjee has grown and led direct teams of 200+ and from tens of millions to half a billion dollars in revenue.

Since 2014, Banerjee has served as chief product officer of Eros Digital at Eros International, the streaming platform for the largest integrated film studio of India. From her offices in the San Francisco Bay area, she leads a globally distributed organization that has grown the service from inception to 120 million global subscribers in 135 countries. Prior to Eros Digital, Banerjee turned around the social collaboration platform Socialtext, the first company to deliver social software to businesses, driving growth by 40 percent and collaborating with the CEO to a successful sale to the $1.4 billion tech fund Bedford Funding.

Banerjee has held leadership positions at Meevee and IGE/Affinity Media. As CTO of Ziff Davis Media, she launched the first ever social network for video gamers, and at AOL she owned and managed technology and products for AOL's top three traffic and revenue-generating channels.

Banerjee holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Kent State University and masters degrees in physics from Case Western Reserve University and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. She serves as a board member for the Association for Corporate Growth Silicon Valley and previously was a Board Advisor for Wist and Minio Social Games. She is also a mentor at NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center.
