Follow on Google News | ![]() First Classics Inc and Jack Lake Productions Inc Settle Dispute over Classics Illustrated ComicsAlthough many of the details of the settlement were not disclosed, one outcome of the agreement is that Classics Illustrated and Classics Illustrated Junior books using digitally remastered artwork created by Jack Lake Productions will carry a notice to acknowledge that work and cite the artists involved. The agreement also reaffirms First Classics as the rights-holder to Classics Illustrated. Jack Lake Productions will no longer be involved in the publishing, licensing and sale of the Classics Illustrated family of books and products. Another outcome of the settlement agreement is that Jack Lake Productions has taken possession of a large collection of the printing plates that were used to print the original Classics Illustrated comic books, with the intention of selling these valuable pieces of Classics Illustrated history to collectors throughout the world. Bradford Berger, President of First Classics, commented: "This settlement acknowledges Jack Lake Production's efforts to popularize and modernize Classics Illustrated including their work to digitally remaster the Classics Illustrated and Classics Illustrated Junior line up, while also preserving First Classic's rights to the Classics Illustrated brand. First Classics is pleased to continue to bring these great books to the world, and is very excited about the future opportunity of creating new Classics Illustrated titles for adventurous young minds."
