It is also known for ensuring that the prisoners are not devoid of fundamental human rights and basic human dignity.
Dr. Rajan Lekhjraj Mahtani in a recent interview with 'Mast Newspaper' iterated that the condition of the Zambian prisoners has been extremely degrading. Past visits from Vice-Presidents and Presidents have revealed that the prisoners are often devoid of basic human dignity in these maximum prisons. As such, giving them death penalty does not provide any additional solution for the law. In a similar manner, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has supported the decision from the Zambian President by stating that giving death penalty is socially and religiously unfair and the decision from the President of Zambia to abolish the death penalty is a step in the right direction.
