Genesis Infrastructure Partners plant roots of sustainable future in Yunnan Joint-Venture

CLEAR WATER BAY, Hong Kong - Nov. 28, 2022 - PRLog -- In south China's Yunnan province Mr. Rolf Karlsson, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong based Genesis Infrastructure Partners, seals a ground-breaking joint-venture partnership to collaborate with mainland producer China Earth Fertilizer Group to develop and operate a multi-year multi-million ton Phosphate Ore mining project in 2023.

Genesis Infrastructure Partner's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Barry Franklin, said "the UN forecasts the world population will be 9 billion by 2030, that's a lot of mouths to feed. Urban areas and cities are expanding all over. This trend of people piling in together leaves less and less farmland. Then factor in soil erosion, desertification, climate change and so on, it all limits the supply of available arable land even more. Add it together and it means we've got a rising demand coming from more and more people needing grains, crops, livestock feed and so on, and at the same time there's a shrinking supply, because there's less and less suitable land for farmers to cultivate. Increased demand and shrinking supply leads to higher prices, and it definitely means farmers will need a lot more fertilizer to try and optimize as much productivity out of our farmland as we can."

The J-V enjoys numerous benefits;

- An established 16 year history in the Golden Spring North phosphorous deposit, part of the infamous Heavenly Triangle formation, Yunnan province.

- A rigorous evaluation determines the project will produce an approximate 7.4m tonnes of net material over a 10 - 12 year period.

In this particular case we're convinced of the long-term value creation for stakeholders and partners in phosphate assets because even though its not a glamorous sector it's just a solid, essential yet sometimes over-looked integral fertilizer commodity, all over the world. And actually any way you cut it a lot more fertilizer is going to needed to increase crop yields throughout the food chain. Over the next few years we fully expect to see phosrock prices go up on shortage concerns, when a crunch point in the supply chain becomes clear."
