MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Jan. 30, 2023 - PRLog -- Inspired by the 12th century terracotta sculptures of the Ife Kingdom in western Nigeria and relying heavily on the artistic concept of realism, comes the Obirin Series by Dr. Sheg Aranmolate. Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Sheg's intention is to debunk a lot of the faulty narratives that surround the concept of ancient African kingdoms as well as give a glimpse into what life looked like in those times.

"Obirin," which means "woman" in the Nigerian Yoruba language, is a major inspiration behind the Obirin collection, and features the painting of a woman from three different angles with three different color schemes. The art collection portrays the concept of the human persona and reminds viewers of the idea that the human is multifaceted, and the subjective experience of a person is based on the perspective of the viewer.

"Kimpton Angler's is thrilled to kick-off a new, year-long series of installations by Black artists with this thought-provoking and compelling collection of works by Dr. Sheg Aranmolate," said Sinem Kaya, General Manager, Kimpton Angler's South Beach. Art-full experiences are part of the hotel's Art in Residence program which seeks to make art appreciation an everyday experience by connecting guests and locals to the worlds of art, food, fashion, music, and culture through approachable and intimate experiences that stir the soul. The lobby-turned-gallery takeover will feature a total of six works by Dr. Sheg displayed throughout the hotel's lobby and Minnow Bar.

"I am beyond honored and astonished to have been selected from a list of other talented artists. I hope this art installation will entertain as well as enlighten the audience on the vast beauty and rich cultural history of black people and African heritage ."

The exhibit will be on display at The Kimpton Angler's Hotel 660 Washington Ave Miami Beach, Florida February 1st- March 31st, 2023. There will be an opening cocktail hour on the evening of February 3rd from 5 - 6pm where visitors and hotel guests get to meet Dr. Sheg and view the collection. Artwork will also be available for purchase and will be able to take home after the month's exhibit.
