AXIS, Ala. - Feb. 26, 2024 - PRLog -- What Casino Players Like in Bonuses: Higher Monetary Value Comes First

In August 2023, the SlotsUp team conducted a survey titled 'Player Preferences in Casino Bonuses'  to explore the details and discern what casino players value in bonuses. The survey included 1331 respondents, primarily from the USA, with 53.08% female participants and 46.92% male participants.

Key Findings of the Research
  • Most of the respondents gamblers (45.11%, 600 out of 1331) find casino bonuses very important.
  • The 30–44 age group (33.08%) was the largest, and the smallest age group of bonus seekers (13.08%) was older than 60.
  • Considering the 30.83% importance of mobile optimization for respondents, we had 45.38% Android and 54.62% iOS users among the respondents.
  • The main aspects players consider when choosing a casino include testimonials (50.38%) and the diversity of available games (46.62%) . Additionally, 48.44% check the licensing of the selected casino.
  • Most participants (60.90%) stated that they frequently visit online casino comparison websites or forums.
  • Wagering was complicated for only 72 out of 1208 players.

Preferred Bonus Types & Essential Aspects

The survey displayed the most popular bonuses and qualities, as well as the types which players activate less often:
  • Most of the survey participants (57.14%) like free spins the most. The welcome bonus (55.64%) comes next.
  • Gamblers also focus on Loyalty Rewards (42.86%) and Cashback (36.09%) often.
  • The offers which are less popular include No-Deposit/Sign-Up Bonuses (33.83%), Reload Bonuses (18.05%) and VIP or High Roller Bonuses (9.02%).
  • Only 10.53% take part  in Tournaments and other gambling events.
  • The majority of respondents (63.91%) appreciate bonus monetary value, such as cashback percentage, compared to a larger number of free spins (47.37%).

Income and Gambling Spendings of Respondents

The research highlighted the economic demographics of online gamblers, displaying how much an average player spends per household:
  • On average, a player spends between $500 to $700 over their entire duration of playing in an online casino.
  • Players with the annual income of $50,000 – $74,999 and $25,000 – $49,999 gamble more often (20% and 19.23% respectively).
  • Considering the $600 average spent per person, players of these two income brackets spend ≈ 2.4% – 1.2% and ≈ 1.2% – 0.8% on gambling.
  • The $75,000 – $99,999 and $125,000 – $149,999 annual income brackets were less popular (16.15% and 6.92%).
  • The larger income of over $200,000 was specified by only 0.77% of the respondents.

Expert opinion:

Peter Fischer is the LV Casino CEO, and his experience allows him to estimate the results of our research and compare it to other trends on the iGaming market. Thanks to Peter's opinion, we learnt that players' preferences regarding bonus types are unexpected.

That's what Peter said about the comparison of free spins and regular welcome packs:

'I was taken aback to see that Free Spins (57.14%) are more appealing than even Welcome Bonuses (55.64%).'

He was also surprised that 19.55% of players aren't interested in bonuses, and we can use this information to focus on other aspects in our reviews to attract these players, including games and smooth payments.

Peter Fischer also added a few words regarding tourneys:

'The low participation in casino tournaments (10.53%) was against my initial beliefs.'

It's also helpful for our research since we'll focus on other bonus types for our readers.
