COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Feb. 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Kristina Andersen is the founder and owner of the Asthma Allergy Shop. Since 2011, she has dedicated a large part of her time to researching allergens.

"Before we had Elliot, I knew nothing about allergies. But I quickly had to grow into the task. When he was 6 months old and started to eat real food, it was also the first time I had to call an ambulance for him. It has happened a couple of times since, because even though there are many rules from the Food Agency for food companies, surprisingly many do not comply with them when it comes to managing allergens in the raw materials."

After Kristina's initial shock, a diagnostic process began, which took several years as it turned out to be difficult to test very small children. Alongside, she spent many evening and nighttime hours researching methods, initiatives, and products hoping to make life with these diagnoses a little easier and better for him.

"You would be surprised at how many products are "allergy-friendly" without actually being so. It can be a jungle to navigate, and I think one of the reasons my shop has been so well received is because I only have products that can actually make a difference if you have allergies or asthma."

"I thoroughly familiarize myself with every single product, test them myself, and critically assess the content, production, etc. In addition, I gain knowledge from experts and labels such as Asthma Allergy Nordic, ECARF, NOMITE, DTU, Knowledge Center for Allergy, COPSAC, Lung Association, and many more, Kristina explains."

Dust Mites are a Major Source of Allergy

"The wet weather has absolutely serious consequences for people with allergies and asthma. House dust mites, which are among the most common causes of allergy in Denmark, thrive at a high humidity level of 70-80%. With the current humidity level, we are experiencing a clear increase in mites in Danish homes. This leads to an increased occurrence of allergic reactions such as rhinitis, itchy eyes, asthma, and in some cases, exacerbation of eczema, Kristina notes, who for good reason is experiencing extraordinary busyness at the moment in her shop, precisely because of the weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment."
