The Tenacious Group is Spearheading Climate Change Initiatives in East San Jose, CA

SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 2, 2024 - PRLog -- The Tenacious Group is spearheading climate change initiatives in East San Jose by teaming up with Santa Clara County Public Health to offer climate literacy training and curriculum to high school students at Latino College Preparatory Academy where the surrounding neighborhoods are characterized by a median household income of $57,000. The curriculum, titled "AIR CARE" will incorporate steps for climate adaptation, fostering personal practices that align with strategic climate action plans. These plans will include the integration of personal climate change language to facilitate both personal and community transformations.

Adam Ybarra, Executive Director of The Tenacious Group, emphasized the significance of the partnership with Santa Clara County Public Health as a crucial step in empowering youth to devise practical and sustainable solutions within their homes, schools, and neighborhoods. "AIR CARE" aims to provide students with firsthand experiences of how air pollution affects vulnerable communities. Through engagement with scientific data and environmental studies on climate change, students will be equipped to demonstrate to their peers the direct impact of climate change on their daily lives.

In addition to its climate change efforts, The Tenacious Group is currently engaged in youth initiatives focused on personal and community transformation. These initiatives involve prevention and intervention strategies for high-risk youth and families. The organization is actively involved in curriculum development and offers train-the-trainer programs to schools, non-profits, school administrators, and city agencies.
