, a leader in supporting the acceleration of innovative solutions for healthy oceans and a sustainable blue economy will be supporting the upcoming EarthX Congress of Conferences by providing a showcase of past finalists with solutions that impact our Oceans and the Blue Economy. Startups will present their solutions to an audience and to a group of judges who will then choose the winner of the Blue Impact Startup Prize.
The startups competing for the $20,000 Blue Impact Startup Prize on April 25
th are:
Silent Returns, Tiffany Grunert, NY - Using Conservation-focused Uncrewed Robotic Equipment (CURE), Silent Returns tackles the challenge of conserving biodiversity in remote habitats by providing advanced, non-intrusive ecological monitoring, which is essential for understanding and protecting diverse ecosystems where conventional human presence is disruptive or unsustainable.
Ocean Rescue Alliance International, Shelby Thomas, FL - ORAI conserves reefs through restoration, research, eco-tourism and education. ORAI is a 501c3 doing marine conservation and restoration while implementing technologies to restore marine environments.
Cordelia Biosciences, Jessica Tittl, FL - Cordelia Biosciences uses biotechnology to create a sustainable chemical portfolio from reef microbes, helping to transform chemical products.
Water Warriors, Steve Chamberland, KY - Water Warriors offers versatile and scalable solutions for nutrient pollution which is a primary cause of excess algae growth and hypoxia where large bodies of water have low or depleted oxygen levels that lead to dead zones. Water Warriors was recently named an Ocean Changemaker by The Economist World Ocean Initiative at its Lisbon, Portugal event.
BiomiTech, Guillermo Bailleres, Mexico - Using algae photosyntheses to remove carbon and nitrogen oxides as well as particulates matter from air while generating oxygen and biomass.
