HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. - April 28, 2024 - PRLog -- Paying a visit to Hillsborough Gallery of Arts to see the exhibit, Mystic Chords, will truly lift your spirits.

Jude Lobe has be creating art as far back as a 5 year old coloring on the walls with crayons. Luckily, her Mom was very supportive and allowed her freedom to express herself, albeit, buying her an easel and paper to continue her expressions.

Lobe is inspired by scenes that pop into her head while meditating. "It's almost an impossible feat for me to think of nothing while meditating. So I consciously take note of the images that pop in and out of my mind. This year they became the images in the exhibit, Mystic Chords". The Totems that Lobe has created are attractive wall pieces of collaged copper works. The 'painted', hammered and forged coppers are symbolic of the southwest rocky landscape. Lobe explains the colors she fire-painted onto to copper are reminiscent of the colors of the southwest soils and rocks with which she has fallen in love. "The iron oxides, red siennas, turquoise and various shades of gray seem to make their way into my palette, whether I am creating in encaustic, oil, cold wax, or copper."

Zuni Bears appear often in Lobe's artworks. They are not always paintings, sometimes they are copper sculptures that she fashions from large sheets of copper. She mentions "In Native American culture, the bear is associated with great strength, power, healing and self-knowledge. He is the great protector, the "sacred bear". He is a spiritual guide and also carries within him supernatural powers."

In reference to the landscape painting, Breathe, Lobe states, "There are these little waterscapes that talk to me and tell me everything is alright. I go to them when I feel overwhelmed or helpless. They always remind me nature renews." Lobe goes on to explain about the idea of a Blue Health phenomenon that shows  water has a powerful physiological effect on our  bodies – so much so that being at a lake, river, ocean or even viewing a picture of a water landscape can calm and relax us. Water is a source of inspiration & creativity that takes us away from distractions.

Exhibiting along with Jude Lobe are Catharine Carter, photo montage artist and Pete Rodrigues, woodworker. The artworks featured in Mystic Chord would be a unique addition to any home or business. All of the artworks blend beautifully with many styles.
