Court finds Poker is a game of chance

Feb. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- A British appeals court this week declared that Poker is a game containing a significant element of chance, and should therefore be prohibited

This comes as a development in a case by private Gunshot Poker Club in the UK, which seeks to have the game ruled as one of skill and therefore removing the need for a gambling license.

Gunshot is the operator of a Poker premises as well as an online community and poker room. The premises were closed down shortly after their opening in 2004 by local authorities, who claimed Gunshot was offering a 'land based poker room with out a license' and deemed poker a game of chance.

Gunshot fought the prosecution with the (age old) argument that Poker is a game of skill, however it was overruled this week by the appeals court.
