"Remember me" 2nd Annual Paul deLay Memorial Concert Celebrates Life, Music and Spirit of Paul deLay

Memorial concert celebrates life, music and spirit of late harmonica great Paul deLay.
 
April 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Featuring Duffy Bishop, Linda Hornbuckle, Lloyd Jones, Terry Robb, Joe McMurrian, Jimi Bott and other special guests to be announced, hosted by former members of the Paul deLay Band in its various incarnations over the years (David Vest, and Louis Pain on keyboards; Peter Dammann on guitar; Dave Kahl,  Don Campbell on bass;  Jeff Minnick, Kelly Dunn on drums).


Also featuring special guests Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps. Born in Houston, now based in Los Angeles, Teresa James is a triple threat pianist, songwriter and vocalist who has performed and/or recorded with Levon Helm, Delbert McClinton, Bonnie Raitt, Kirk Whalum, Marcia Ball, Tommy Castro, Al Anderson, Asleep at the Wheel, Lee Roy Parnell, Randy Newman,  and Walter Trout. At Paul deLay's debut in the early 1990s at BB King's Club in Universal City CA, Teresa  performed the duet "Someday Baby, Maybe Our Luck Will Change," (released with Linda Hornbuckle singing the duet on Ocean of Tears). Teresa's eclectic band mates have worked with a wide range of artists including Jimmy Reed, Eric Burdon, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Kim Carnes, Jennifer Warnes, Was Not Was, and Johnny Nash.


Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door (children and students $10 in advance, $15 at the door). All funds raised will go toward a new Paul deLay scholarship program at Ethos Music Center in Northeast Portland.

Paul deLay wrote the haunting lament "Remember Me," after his mother, and the mothers of three band members, passed away during a two-year-period in the late 1990s.  It was  released on the Paul deLay Band's Heavy Rotation CD (Evidence Music) in 2001.


Paul deLay passed away on March 7, 2007 from complications due to late stage leukemia.
