June 3, 2008 - PRLog -- If you sign up to a Mobile Broadband service you hope to get all the benefits of a standard fixed line broadband service and more. It’s possible to achieve speeds between 1.8Mbps to 8Mbps using a mobile broadband USB dongle or USB stick – that’s comparable to fixed line broadband. However, can you make the most of services like VoIP (Voice over Internet protocol)? Thankfully, the answer is ‘yes’.

With fixed line broadband it’s possible, using software packages like ‘Skype’ to make free calls over the internet to other people on Skype for as long as you like, to wherever you like across the world. Free to download all you need is a Skype-enabled device to carry out the calls – this is called VoIP.

With Mobile Broadband services it can sometimes be confusing knowing what you can and can’t do within the limits of your subscription. Luckily, if you’re signed up to a package like T-Mobile’s Web ‘n’walk Max you can make use of Voice over IP safe in the knowledge that it’s included as part of your package.

For a monthly subscription of £35 for 24 months T-Mobile’s Web’n’walk Max you have all the same benefits of their web’n’walk Plus package – that’s an unlimited monthly data allowance and GPRS UMTS/3G but with the added bonus of being able to use internet calling services like Skype and jajah.com. No matter how much you surf, your monthly cost is fixes, just as long as it’s within a 10Gb fair use policy amount.

Gillian Nightingale from Mobile Broadband Genie shared her words of advice on packages like T-Mobile’s Web ‘n’walk Max:

“Before you sign up to a mobile broadband package it’s worth making a list of tasks you regularly carry out online, whether it’s downloading e-mail attachments for work or phoning your sister in Australia, you will want to make sure that you can continue your internet habits without worrying about restrictions,”

Gillian continued: “Although the initial costs can sound expensive, the flexibility of being able to make international calls wherever you are could be invaluable and would save you a small fortune.”
