Follow on Google News | Science Supremo now available free for Science teachersDESQ is pleased to announce the completion of Science Supremo, a game-based learning resource that offers young people studying GCSE Science an opportunity to find out what scientists do and to understand the interplay between science and society.
By: DESQ In Science Supremo students take on the role of scientists working in modern drug development. They run a clinical trial of a new, fictional drug for tuberculosis and make choices about how to run the trial and which volunteers to include. Their choices affect the results of the clinical trials, with ratings and statistics changing according to their decisions. “The current version of the game is a fully playable prototype, which can be played in small groups or by individuals,” “Science Supremo also allows students to learn in different ways according to their preferred style,” added Tony Sherborne, Creative Director at Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Science Education. “Students can use the resource individually, or a teacher can take more control of the game, giving students more direct instructions about what to do in each of the game stages or within a lesson.” For more information about Science Supremo, please visit www.desq.co.uk/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Science Supremo has been developed by DESQ Ltd, a learning games development studio www.desq.co.uk and Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Science Education http://www.shu.ac.uk/ About the Centre for Science Education (CSE) The Centre for Science Education (CSE) is a research and business development unit specialising in the STEM subjects, but in particular, science.
